Northridge acts for Yorkshire CCC on sale of Hundred team to the Sun Group

Northridge acted for Yorkshire County Cricket Club on the sale of its Hundred team the Northern Superchargers to the Sun Group.

The Sun Group, which also owns Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, purchased 100% of the Northern Superchargers.  The deal sees the Yorkshire County Cricket Club benefit from a significant financial influx, whilst also gaining a world-renowned strategic partner.

This deal builds on Northridge’s experience acting on some of the most prominent M&A deals in sport in recent years, including the sale of Everton FC, investments in Leeds United and Aston Villa, the sale of Chelsea FC and the sale of sports tech company StatsBomb to Hudl.

The Northridge deal team included Jon Walters, Mike Herbert, Mark Galli, Lucinda Bayley and India Gommo.

“The Sunrisers are going to be a great partner for the Club. It was clear from the first time we met them that they care about cricket and Yorkshire, and there are some very exciting times ahead of us. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Sun Group for their support in getting us to this stage and look forward to welcoming them to the Yorkshire Cricket family.”

“We’re excited to have acquired the Northern Superchargers and to begin this new chapter in close collaboration with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Yorkshire’s proud cricketing heritage, its passionate fan base, and the iconic Headingley Stadium make this a truly special opportunity. We are committed to building upon that legacy.”
