Competition Law

Competition law underpins the sports industry, from the regulation of competitions to the commercialisation of media rights.

Commercial rights deals, in particular relating to ticketing, sponsorship and media rights, must be structured to comply with competition law. Sports regulations are also subject to competition when they concern the exercise of an economic activity and risk being annulled if not necessary and proportionate to the achievement of a legitimate objective.

Our expertise ranges from defending regulations from competition complaints before the European Commission and national competition authorities, acting for complainants against anti-competitive conduct and advising on competition law issues in rights agreements.
