Northridge acts on major investment in Portuguese Primeira Liga club
Northridge has acted as principal legal counsel to a consortium led by ADvantage and LEAD, with the support of the KI Group, on its acquisition of a 90% majority stake in CFEA – Club Football Estrela, SAD, the operating company of Portuguese Primeira Liga club CF Estrela da Amadora.
The consortium includes investors from the sports, technology and investment sectors, alongside internationally renowned footballers Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernández. Northridge acted on the acquisition and the shareholder arrangements governing the club’s new ownership structure.
The Northridge team was led by Mike Herbert, Lucinda Bayley and Oliver Levett, with support from Philippa Scott and Laurence Daly. The Northridge team worked alongside Fernando Veiga Gomes and Hugo Teixeira from Abreu who advised on the acquisition and Portuguese law matters, and Arendt who advised on matters of Luxembourg law.
This latest deal builds on Northridge’s expertise advising on international sports team investments and acquisitions, including the recent acquisition by Michele Kang of a majority stake in Eagle Football Group S.A., the listed parent company of Ligue 1 French football club, Olympique Lyonnais.
