Northridge acts for Michele Kang on takeover of Olympique Lyonnais

Northridge advised Michele Kang on her acquisition of a majority stake in Eagle Football Group S.A., the listed parent company of Ligue 1 French football club, Olympique Lyonnais.

The takeover was conducted in the context of English administration proceedings relating to Eagle Bidco (the previous owner of 87.78% of the share capital in Eagle Football Group). It forms part of a wider financial reorganisation of the Olympique Lyonnais group, including a debt reprofiling with its existing senior secured lenders and the injection of significant new funding by Michele Kang. The transaction represents one of the most complex and high-profile cross-border restructurings in recent European football history.

Northridge acted as lead corporate counsel on the transaction, with the team led by Mike Herbert and Victoria Scopes and including Scott Treleaven, Anna Corderoy, Philippa Scott, Lucinda Bayley, Oliver Levett, Laurence Daly and Hugo Bailey.

Northridge worked alongside Hogan Lovells Cadwalader as co-counsel advising on finance (Katie Gill), restructuring (Naomi Parmar) and matters of French law (Christophe-Marc Juvanon and Jean-Marc Franceschi).
